Student Success Stories: Andy Johnson
One of my first students and now long-time students is Andy Johnson. We met through a mutual friend on the range during my first year of teaching in Chicago. Andy was a solid amateur player who had potential but some technical issues and his approach to the game needed cleaning up. We saw quick results to our work as within a few weeks of us working together Andy notched a top 15 finish in the 2010 Illinois State Amateur and followed up his solid performance by winning the CDGA Better Ball Championship.
Fast forward seven years and Andy is still a student and continues to improve, last year (2016) he had his best summer of competition to date, he finished in the top 15 on the Illinois State Player of the Year Points List and his summer was highlighted by a co-medalist and semifinal run in the CDGA Mid-Am Championship and qualifying for the U.S. Mid Amateur.
What I am Most Proud Of:
The aspect of Andy's story that I am most proud of is that he continues to grow and improve with minimal time. This goes to show how important understanding your game and staying to the game plan can pay off for anybody. Andy is a young entrepreneur who has minimal time to practice and play because his professional and personal life yet still can compete at a very high level.
